(Hydrogen energy process)
Hydrogen is also found in many organic compounds, notably the hydrocarbons that make up many of our fuels, such as gasoline, natural gas, methanol, and propane. Hydrogen can be separated from hydrocarbons through the application of heat a process known as reforming. Currently most hydrogen is made this way from natural gas.
Hydrogen energy is a relatively new source of energy and we do not have enough information for this so here are some advantages that this type of energy gives us and also some disadvantages
Advantages:
No harmful emissions: This means that when it burns it leaves almost no harmful byproducts, in Nasa austronauts drink the clean water that the hydrogen leaves behind when it burns
It´s Renewbable:
Unlike non renewbable resources wich are those that can´t be produced again or in a very long period of time, Hydrogen energy can be produced on demand. Hydrogen is avilable in plenty, all we need is fossil fuels to break water molecules to separate it from oxygen
Disadvantages
Expensive:
Hydrogen gas also requires a lot of work to free it from other elements. If this was a easy process and easy to isolate everyone would be using this type of energy, but it is now being used in some hybrid cars but this is not a veryviable source of energy for everyone.
Storage:
Hydrogen is hard to move around, AS coal can be transported at the back of dumb trucks, this light hydrogen is hard to transport also is very expensive so they just move small amount of it
Hydrogen Fuel Cell
Fuel cells directly convert the chemical energy in hydrogen to electricity, with pure water and heat as the only byproducts. Hydrogen-powered fuel cells are not only pollution free, but a two to three fold increase in the efficiency can be experienced when compared to traditional combustion technologies.
Hydrogen energy uses:
NASA uses hydrogen energy as fuel to the spaceships because not just hydrogen is a very powerful source of energy but also it cause no harm to the enviroment like coal and other types of energy and some of you might be asking why does this becomes our number one source of energy?Because it is a very new type of energy and we do not know what can happen in the future or if it can be worse than fossil fuels.
This post really caught my attention...i like the idea that this type of energy is renewable...that is very helpfull!!!
